Medical Treatments for Hair Loss in Women
When looking for hair thinning treatment, women often find it difficult to seek help because hair loss in women tends to be a taboo subject. Yet it can be very traumatic for women.
When finding a cure for thinning hair, it is important to consider if it is pre-menopausal hair loss or post menopausal hair loss. Hair loss before menopause is likely caused by low iron levels, hormonal imbalances, thyroid imbalances, illness, psychological conditions, or skin disorders. After menopause, these same reasons can be present, but it is much more common to have thinning hair then because of hormonal imbalances.
A thinning hair treatment can be found through products, although it can be confusing and there may be many gimmicks out there. Rogaine (Minoxidil) is the only FDA approved product for women. Another thinning hair solution is surgical. If you have a good donor area that is not shedding significantly, the surgeon can harvest donor hair and transplant it forward.

I’m 54 years old and my hair has been falling since I was young, but now it has been falling a lot… to the point I have very little hair up on the front, and some parts of the back of my head too.
I’ve read that there is nothing to be done as this is from family, or some medical trouble. How can I find out? My parents have little hair. My mother’s hair has been very little since she was 40. My sis is now 60 and her hair has been falling too and she always had a lot of hair. They live in the hot place of the country and never have cold weather.
I have cold weather during 5 months of the year the last 20 years …before that I always lived in the hot weather too.
Right now my front face side of the hair looks terrible. Could it be because I’ve had it dyed for a long time? I’ve had my hair colored even before I had gray hair.
Let me now.
